Teens With Reactive Attachment Disorder

America’s leading teen therapeutic boarding school since 1999.

Does Your Teen Struggle With Reactive Attachment Disorder?

program for troubled youth Diamond Ranch Academy believes the best therapy often happens outside of the office. Our therapists spend hours with the students playing basketball, going on hikes and any number of other activities. Our therapists are with the students day in and day out. We get to know them well, across multiple settings. This allows us to design therapeutic interventions that directly target specific challenges. As students learn to trust, they let their walls down. They are then able to work through their challenges without the power struggles and resistance. At our program for troubled youth, your son or daughter will form a close relationship with their therapist. Under the care and guidance of one of our trained professionals, your child will flourish.

Treating Your Teen’s Reactive Attachment Disorder at Diamond Ranch

Our therapeutic boarding school can treat your teen who struggles with Reactive Attachment Disorder (or RAD), a rare but serious condition in which they are unable to form a healthy emotional attachment with mother (or primary caregiver). Reliable care of a baby’s emotional and physical requirements enables them to learn to bond; deprived of that (i.e.: perhaps because of transient foster care or adoption), they may have difficulty establishing any close bonds. There are two types of RAD (sometimes also known as Radical Attachment Disorder).  With one, they might be unbecomingly affectionate with complete strangers. With the other kind, introverted, withdrawn, aloof, emotionally indifferent, inhibited.

A secure and nurturing environment (which is what you’ll find at Diamond Ranch) is critical in order for your teen to learn to create healthy connections.  Family therapy may be vitally important for their treatment of Reactive Attachment Disorder, by encouraging communication between you and your teen.  By helping you learn specific (parenting) skills, they can steer clear of additional social and behavioral issues later in life, and rather go on to enjoy healthy relationships with you and with others.
