Interests

I am a Utah native born in Salt Lake City to a close-knit family where I learned the importance of honesty and hard work. When I was nine years old, we moved to St. George, Utah – which is now the place that I still call home. I believe that growing up in Southern Utah was one of the greatest blessings I have had in my life; I love it here. In high school I was very involved with my academics and I also participated in sports. After graduating high school, I served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. As a missionary I continued to increase my work ethic and knowledge, where I also learned to speak the Spanish language proficiently. I grew to love the humble people that I met and the amazing culture that I experienced while serving in Honduras. After returning home from Honduras, I have attended Brigham Young University and Dixie State University. I am married to a beautiful woman and we love living in St. George.

Interests

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where I was heavily involved in sports, for which I have always had a deep passion. I played competitively in football, basketball, baseball, and soccer from a young age through high school. When the opportunity presented itself 15 years ago, our family moved to and instantly fell in love with Southern Utah. There is a feeling here that you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

Comments on DRA

Working at DRA provides the opportunity to be involved in so many wonderful experiences on a daily basis. From assisting youth as they strive to reach their potential, sharing in their struggles and successes along the way, to having the opportunity to work with a staff comprised of the most talented, genuine people one could be associated with.

I love science and math and anything related to teaching! I learned to play piano when I was 8 years old and I love anything to do with music. I also love the outdoors and doing fun activities with my family. I am married to an amazing man (who also works here at Diamond Ranch) and we have 4 awesome kids.

Comments on DRA

I began my teaching career in a residential treatment setting and have worked with teenagers ever since. Diamond Ranch became part of my family when my husband started working here in 2006. We love working with the teenagers here and I am a better mom because of the tools I have learned working here at Diamond Ranch. The students here at Diamond Ranch have become an extension of our family!

Comments on DRA

I joined the United States Army at 18, spending 3.5 years as an Infantryman in Colorado and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Thanks to that experience, I learned I have a great desire to serve others. Since leaving the military, I have searched for ways to help others and am very proud to be able to do so at Diamond Ranch Academy. I’ve been able to learn and grow so much, not only as a person but also as a father, due to my experiences at DRA. I was given the opportunity to help coach the Boys Soccer team in 2017, and have been inspired to pursue more coaching and mentoring opportunities in the future. I’ve seen a lot of youth come to us confused and angry, and witnessed many of them find methods to cope and happiness while taking part in the competitive sports we have to offer.

INTERESTS

While walking through the favelas (ghettos) of Sao Paulo, Brazil, I encountered individuals that taught me the art of being happy, no matter the circumstances. Since that experience I have had a desire learn that lesson. Since then I have worked in the field of helping others, and pursued strengths-based work to help individuals achieve their potential. My wife and I moved our family to Southern Utah from Wyoming to get away from the cold, and who wouldn’t want to play in all the sunshine here? Our 3 young boys love being able to play outdoors any time of the year, and I love finding new adventures to go on. I am excited to embark on a new journey with Diamond Ranch Academy!

COMMENTS ON DRA

Diamond Ranch Academy: the staff, the program, the facility, are all top notch! Since day one of working for Diamond Ranch Academy, I have learned so much to implement in my own life as a mom of four kids (three of those being teenagers). The life skills training, the therapy, and the education that these students are receiving, is setting them up for success in their lives. This program changes the lives of these youth for the better! There is no better investment than the investment we put into our children.

Comments On DRA

I started working at DRA shortly after my Fiancé, who also is a Program Director, in late 2017. I have always done more manual work but have really been able to find fulfillment in helping others. While here at DRA I have had the opportunity to work with kids from many different paths of life as well as been able to learn along with them. I use the teachings here in my personal life to be a better father, husband, and role model for my daughter and the children here.
