During the 2013-14 school year, Diamond Ranch Academy entered in a partnership with La Verkin Elementary School in La Verkin, Utah. Initially eight students from DRA went to the elementary school every other week to volunteer in various classrooms. These students did such a great job, however, that it lead to a renewal of the volunteer partnership for the 2014-15 school year.
This year, the Academic Department at Diamond Ranch Academy has the opportunity to send eight students to volunteer at La Verkin Elementary School on a weekly basis. Student volunteering from DRA have been assigned to help in kindergarten, 1st grade and 4th grade classes. While at the elementary school, Diamond Ranch Academy students have helped with everything from reading to math to recess, and have nothing but positive reviews about their experiences!
The elementary students also enjoy having the DRA students in their classrooms and eagerly anticipate their return each week. In addition to the elementary students’ enthusiasm about the student volunteers from DRA helping in their classrooms, there have also been other teachers at the elementary request that our students help in their classrooms.
Each week there is a new sign up sheet posted, and it quickly fills up with students who want the experience of volunteering at La Verkin Elementary.
