Eleven of the girls from Diamond Ranch Academy attended a college volleyball game at Southern Utah University. Located in Cedar City, SUU is in “the heart of Utah’s color country”.According to the university’s website, “From its founding in 1897, Southern Utah University has evolved from a teacher training institution to now becoming Utah’s designated liberal arts and sciences university. SUU has always placed students first by fostering small, personalized classes led by supportive professors who are some of the nation’s top scholars in their fields of study.”
Before the game, the Diamond Ranch Academy girls made a stop at a local pizzeria and had a cheesy, delicious dinner. The SUU Thunderbirds were hosting the Sacramento State University Hornets in Centrum Arena, located on the SUU campus. It was an exciting evening of volleyball! The Thunderbirds lost the first two games of the match, and then came back and won the last three – taking the victory over the Hornets! Our DRA girls were so happy and loved cheering on a local team.
Becca, on of our girls at Diamond Ranch Academy, reported that in addition to how much fun they had at the game, it was cool to get a taste of what a college campus is like. College is the next step for her after DRA. Becca also said that she enjoyed being able to relax and hang out with staff.
Ashli Brown, Girls Program Director went to the game with her family and also Jessica Huntsman, Girls Math and Science Teacher, and her family.
All the DRA girls had a great time and really enjoyed each others’ company. They really love moments that they can bond at activities during Diamond Ranch Academy.
