Athletics Program
Competitive athletics and extra-curricular activities are an important part of the Diamond Ranch Academy experience. Boys and girls are encouraged to participate, and are given the opportunity to pursue several areas of interest. Participation in such events allow the youth to improve individual talents and abilities while learning valuable lessons regarding teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, and humility. Furthermore, teenagers tend to be motivated toward better choices, and typically demonstrate more appropriate behavior, as they become involved in such activities.
Currently, a large group of boys and girls are actively involved in football and dance/drill team respectively. The "Diamond Back" football team represents Diamond Ranch Academy in a very professional manner. While winning is the goal of each game, the conduct and behavior of each boy is of greater importance. The team practices hard each day and performs at a high level on the field, and we recognize their abilities. The boys strive to improve with each opportunity. When they tackle the opponent, they hit hard. However, overly aggressive play and late hits are not allowed. After a tackle, the boys are quick to help the opponent back on their feet. In some instances, excessive foul language is used by the opposing team. However, Diamond Ranch Academy strictly prohibits inappropriate language and behavior, and assist one another, as teammates, to refrain from foul language or disrespect in any form. Although we require appropriate behavior from the youth at all times, we acknowledge their ability to meet this expectation and pay tribute to them.
Diamond Ranch Academy recognizes the tremendous support provided by many parents as we increase opportunities for organized athletics and extra-curricular activities. Support is demonstrated by family members in various ways, and we are grateful for the positive attitude and compliance with established rules, policies, and procedures.
Many of the boys and girls currently enrolled at Diamond Ranch Academy possess tremendous gifts, talents, and abilities. We plan to continue providing new opportunities to improve and develop these qualities as they demonstrate a willingness and desire to participate, and as they meet eligibility requirements.
